Thank goodness for BAO Fitz… Formerly a little food truck in Netil Market, the team graduated to a tiny Soho diner in 2015. You could be forgiven for not seeing said Soho restaurant, which is so successful that it tends to be hidden behind a huge queue of hunger bao hunters noon and night. So the Fitzrovia outpost couldn’t come fast enough – and luckily this one sprawls across two floors on Windmill Street, with a fresh aesthetic and a host of exciting new Xiao Chi (small eats) added to the menu.
Hustle for a table on the ground floor (the basement is a bit dingy) and sit up at the horseshoe bar. Kick off with Beef & Cheek Tendon Nuggets and Raw Langoustines. The Braised Pork Bao remains a favourite, but the Blackened Cod newcomer is definitely not to be overlooked. There’s even a Sweet Potato Cocktail…!?
No reservations.
